Schalke have opened talks over a loan move for Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen.
The Holland international is available and also has interest from France.
Janssen has struggled to make an impact for Spurs since joining the club from AZ Alkmaar back in 2016.
He was loaned out to Fernerbahce last year and returned behind Harry Kane and Fernando Llorente in the pecking order.
The Bundesliga could be his next destination but Schalke are assessing a number of different options up front.
The club had shown interest in West Ham's Lucas Perez but he is hopeful of joining Real betis - who were aslo keen on Janssen. Perez trained at West Ham on Thursday morning.

He's just a bit of a weird player, his linkup play is decent but for a striker he just doesn't score enough. He literally had half a year in the Eredivisie where he scored a lot and thats it. Tottenham bought him way too early. Maybe if he stayed at AZ for a year or went to Ajax or Feyenoord for more experience he would have developed better but i think at this point he just offers too little. I doubt he's good enough for Schalke tbh.

ust checked why they would loan him out now that they have trouble with their forwards as well (Kane injured, Son just came back and Llorente doesn't score much). Janssen was injured from 01.07.2018 - 31.12.2018 so we would loan someone who not only was injured the whole first half of the season but also someone who played one league game last season as well. I doubt that Heidel is taking such a huge gamble. Edit: Ok, made a mistake. He was loaned out to Fenerbahce last season and played 16 games (5 goals, 4 assists). Still doesn't impress me.
