Tottenham Hotspur have threatened to suspend the season tickets of anyone trying to profit from the club’s move to their new stadium.
Tickets for the opening game against Crystal Palace on April 3 have already been advertised for as much as £1,200 for a pair on social media. Spurs are aware of some people trying to sell-on their tickets for the first game at a huge profit and have warned of severe action.
A club spokesperson said: “Season-ticket holders or anyone else selling their tickets on social-media platforms and other unofficial websites are in breach of the club’s terms and conditions, therefore leaving themselves liable to having their accounts suspended.
“The only official way to transfer tickets is via Ticket Exchange or Ticket Share which become operational on the date tickets go on sale.”
Some fans described efforts to profit from the first game as “shocking” and “disgraceful”.
Tottenham allow fans to use Ticket Exchange to sell a ticket at face value for any individual game which they cannot attend. The Ticket Share service is for season-ticket holders to share their tickets with a nominated friend or family member for any particular match.
Meanwhile, Spurs confirmed season-ticket prices have been frozen for 2019-20. The club sold 42,000 for this season ahead of the initial September move-in date which has been delayed. A club statement thanked fans for their patience.
The cheapest season ticket costs £795 for adults, £595 for age 18 to 21 and £397.50 for seniors and children. The most expensive are £1,995, while there are also £2,200 tickets with access to a private bar and complimentary food.
Tottenham’s statement said: “The club can announce that we shall be freezing the prices of all season tickets ... we should like to thank our season-ticket holders for bearing with us and supporting the team at Wembley.
“We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by this unique set of circumstances ... season-ticket renewals will open on April 22 with the final deadline being May 17.”

There are ‘fans’ trying to sell tickets to fellow fans for the palace game for upwards of a grand. Taking action on stuff like this is EXACTLY what clubs need to be doing. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the new stadium.

100% agree with this action, SpursOfficial already have a ticket exchange process in place to cover those fans who can't attend the match. Despicable to try and profit from fellow fans of club.

I agree but the club made stub hub legal a few seasons ago which was basically legal touting. Any fan that has a ticket that doesn't want to be there needs their heads checked.

Good. Wish we could do that with gig tickets, but it's much easier to sell them to your sister company and profit 4 or 5 times over.

Completely agree with this. The tickets are expensive enough.

They should set up a station in the stadium where you can get the one hotspur account points associated with your ticket applied to your account. Just show up, scan your ticket, and provide your details. The points for the tickets, plus a penalty are removed from the season ticket holder, and applied to your account. They lose their place at the front of the queue... And I start building my points towards getting a membership. The total points accrued vs. penalty points removed shouldn't be known to the ticket seller until the end of the season.

touts may price it at that but the official ticket exchange is at face value plus an admin fee. Is the admin fee &1130?

Maybe I’m being thick...do people already have tickets for the Palace game? I’ve checked in the official site and they say there is no information about tickets for the match yet.

It was only ok to sell your ticket for outrageous amounts when doing it through stubhub so the club got a cut. How dare you do it now and miss them out?! A bit rich from a club who got rid of a facevalue ticket exchange for fans and replaced it with stubhub for two seasons.

My only worry is it’s going to be harder for those of us who share season tickets, If they’re going to start asking for ID’s. I know plenty of people who use a mates ticket, or use a season ticket that’s in someone else’s name.

Rightly so. You shouldn't be able to finance your season ticket by selling it off game by game. If everyone did that then only the very wealthy and people going to a one off game as an 'event' could afford to go.
