It took just 22 seconds for a penalty to be awarded in Saturday night's Champions League final, but the fallout from Damir Skomina's decision will last a long time.
The ball did hit Moussa Sissoko's arm, but it only did so after bouncing off his chest and the Spurs players couldn't believe that the referee was pointing to the spot.
After the match, players and coaches from the London-based club said they wanted Skomina to at least view the incident on the VAR screen, something he did not do.
The waving away of a possible James Milner handball and a possible push on Harry Kane only served to infuriate Mauricio Pochettino's men further.
Yet these appeals were more so because of their inability to create dangerous opportunities.
As much as they tried, Tottenham couldn't break through Liverpool.
Liverpool, meanwhile, were conservative as the early penalty meant they didn't need to chase a goal.
In the final stages, with Spurs throwing men forward, a second Reds goal did come from Divock Origi to make it a 2-0 victory.
Tottenham, though, will remain focussed on that first minute penalty and the way it shaped the entire match.

it was a clear handball

It shouldn’t have been a handball if Sissoko didn’t move. At first I was saying no handball, it hit him in the armpit area but he moved his arm down which stopped the balls natural path. A bit harsh but it was correct decision.
So you understood in couple of days was the referee computer inbuilt inside him..Refereepool

he moved the hand which disrupted the natural bounce of the ball,

Such a big game you need a calm referee and I think he’s right in the penalty decision. YNWA ASIA

Tottenham have no legit reason to argue. They did not play anything the whole game, did not deserve to win.
Could’ve been different if not for some good saves from Allison. Neither team played well really there was just a nice finish from Origi, rest of the game was pretty sloppy football.

UEFA FIFA etc are all kinda corrupt. There’re lots of great refs out there why pick this one ? That penalty shouldn’t have been given and was too early especially in a final. It was like giving Liverpool the advantages 22 seconds into a 90 minute game. It was unfair. But congratulations 🎊🍾🎉🎈 to Liverpool after all. They have been great all season and deserve to win . I just don’t like seeing unfairness
lol seriously 😂 what a pathetic person are you it is a penalty wether you like it or not and the referee was the best

Yes I believe the ref should have atleast checked the VAR to confirm it doesn't take more than a minute..but at the same time Tottenham should have attacked and hit back hard with more hunger but instead they chose to play their best game when Lukas Moura added finesse in their 80th minute but shot down immediately by origi goal..so Tottenham will have to face their mistakes like big men and not toddlers.

Sissoko knew it was a handball, The ball hit the chest first and then hit his hand, but it is counted as a hamdball because it was the hand which stopped the ball.

Up until then they didn’t have many shots on target, spurs looked like they may come up with something. Then out of nowhere Origi sticks one in the bottom corner
Well yeah, it wasn’t definitely the best final, both teams looked tired. But i guess Klopp outplayed Pochettino.

Liverpool was still the more dangerous side, their second goal was good.

I think it was unfair, I’m not saying this because I’m a Spurs fan but because how tf was Sissoko meant so know that the ball was going to hit his arm. However the way we played we wouldn’t have deserved to win anyway

It was a very poor game, and we were the better team. But congratulations to Liverpool. Saying the above. I am very proud of our club, and team. The boys can hold their heads up high. We will try again next year.

Why is everyone so proud? The game was there for the taking and we offered nothing up front. Eriksen Ali and Kane never showed up for the biggest game of their lives! Fantastic achievement getting there but you need to finish it off, especially against a sub par Liverpool team 🤷🏼♀️
