Like a fine wine, Watford captain Troy Deeney only seems to be getting better with age and it would appear a tireless training ethic is the secret behind his success.

Deeney has been inspirational for Watford in their perfect start to the Premier League season and the powerhouse forward was praised by his personal trainer Jamie Reynolds on Sunday.

Reynolds, famous for his affiliation with a number of athletes and stars, posted a montage of Deeney's gruelling workout routine on his Instagram account. He claims the 30-year-old is the 'hardest worker in the gym' he knows.

The fitness expert wrote: 'Always the hardest worker in the gym and somehow manages to get an extra 10% out of everyone else who’s training at the same time - what a start to the season, keep it going mate.'

During the video, Deeney can be seen expertly skipping with a rope, launching a medicine ball at a brick wall and completing dead-lifts with what looks to be a heavily weighted bar.

Reynolds released the video on the back of Deeney's latest man-of-the-match performance against Tottenham.

The striker lead Watford to a surprise 2-1 win at Vicarage Road by scoring the equaliser in the 69th minute. Craig Cathcart scored the winner seven minutes later to keep Watford's 100 per cent record intact.

Speaking after the victory, Deeney said: 'We cause people problems, we are big lumps, people don’t like it.

'Character shown, we were disappointed first half, going forward poor, but we showed resilience, we can make this place a fortress, two goals were great.

'This gives confidence, four wins is a huge achievement, some people say we have only beaten lesser teams, this gives us more respect, but this will be a tough month.'

Watford now go into the international break as one of only three teams on 12 points. They sit alongside Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table and lead the likes of Manchester City, United and Arsenal as well as Tottenham.

Reynolds, a Nike Master Trainer, works with a number of Premier League footballers as well as world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. He has trained with Eden Hazard, Marcus Rashford, Dele Alli and even Hollywood star Kevin Hart.
