Man City best Chelsea
Chelsea and Manchester City went head-to-head at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The Londoners would head into the game sitting top of the Premier League table, and aiming to continue their unbeaten start to the season across all competitions.
Man City, on the other hand, had already stuttered to a defeat to Tottenham and a 0-0 draw with Southampton, suggesting that Pep Guardiola and co. looked set to suffer without a proper no.9 in their ranks.
Despite such woes, though, it was actually City who came away with a win on Saturday.
The Sky Blues dominated for large periods, with Thomas Tuchel’s decision to start a three-man midfield having left Chelsea lacking any sort of creativity and link to his forwards.
In turn, when all was said and done, Gabriel Jesus provided the winning goal:
Chelsea slip down the table
This would be Chelsea’s first loss of the season in all competitions and it will be interesting to see how the Blues react to this.
The defeat meant that Chelsea have now slipped down to 3rd in the Premier League, level on points with City and Manchester United.
Liverpool currently occupy top spot with 14 points, but that could change later on Monday if Brighton beat Leicester, which would of course also see Chelsea slip down to 4th.
Tuchel’s damning Chelsea verdict
Now, Thomas Tuchel has offered a pretty brutal assessment of Chelsea’s display against Man City.
They did only lose 1-0 and came to life somewhat later on in the game.
But despite this, Tuchel has stated that Chelsea’s decision making, passing and dribbling were not good enough to win:
“Of course, we are not happy with how we played and the decisions that we took. You need to be at the very best level in all parts of the game and we were clearly not.
“We are together in this so we need the best level from the coach and the best level from the players and we will look into it now with all the self-reflection that is needed. Our decision making, our passing, our dribbling was not good enough to win.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek looks like the next to be transformed by Tuchel. I'm excited to what Tuchel will get out of him this season. He's looking pure class at the moment.
