Liverpool News

Andrew Robertson and Jordan Henderson have returned to training in the build-up to Liverpool's second leg against Atletico Madrid. They will require further assessment but it would be a surprise if they didn't both start on Wednesday.

Fabinho has been particularly poor for Liverpool in recent matches and there is a case that he should really be dropped. It would, however, be a massive call from Jurgen Klopp in a match of this magnitude.

Alisson is a major doubt for Liverpool after missing the 2-1 win over Bournemouth through injury. Adrian looks set to start in goal for the home side.

Atletico Madrid News

Alvaro Morata and Renan Lodi were both absent from training at the start of the week but Atletico expect both to make the squad to face Liverpool on Wednesday.

Diego Simeone will have to pick between Kieran Trippier and Sime Vrsaljko at right-back on Wednesday.

Thomas Partey was suspended at the weekend but will line up in central midfield against Liverpool.

Jose Gimenez was back on the bench at the weekend after a lengthy spell out injured. Simeone would ideally like to start his best centre-back here but Gimenez hasn't played since the start of the year and his inclusion would be a gamble.

Match facts

Liverpool have never lost against Atletico Madrid at Anfield in two previous European meetings, drawing 1-1 in the Champions League group stage in 2008-09 and winning 2-1 in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final in 2009-10.

On each of the last two occasions, Liverpool have lost away from home in the first leg of a Champions League knockout match, they have progressed to the next round; the Reds eliminated Chelsea and Barcelona in the semi-finals in 2006-07 and 2018-19.

On each of the last two occasions, Liverpool have lost away from home in the first leg of a Champions League knockout match, they have progressed to the next round; the Reds eliminated Chelsea and Barcelona in the semi-finals in 2006-07 and 2018-19.

Jurgen Klopp is yet to lose a home Champions League game with Liverpool (W11 D4); Klopp's last two home defeats in the competition have been in last 16 home leg matches with Borussia Dortmund in 2013-14 (1-2 v Zenit) and 2014-15 (0-3 v Juventus).

Should Liverpool be eliminated by Atlético Madrid, it would be the first time since a run of four seasons between 2004-05 and 2007-08 that the Champions League holders have failed to go beyond the last 16 in consecutive seasons, with Real Madrid going out at this stage last season against Ajax.

Whoscored prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Atletico

PSG vs Dortmund

Probable Lineups

PSG News

Thomas Tuchel is without Marco Verratti and Thomas Meunier through suspension, with the duo booked in the first leg.

The PSG boss is sweating on the fitness of Thiago Silva and Colin Dagba, while Kylian Mbappe didn't train with PSG on Monday morning due to illness, a session that Edinson Cavani left early for personal reasons.

Should the Brazilian not be fit to start, Marquinhos could drop into defence with Ander Herrera coming into the XI, but Tuchel is unlikely to start with a three-man defence as he did in the first leg.

Dortmund News

Lucien Favre is unable to call upon injured duo Marco Reus and Thomas Delaney for Dortmund's second leg clash with PSG.

He is unlikely to make wholesale changes to his favoured XI and may in fact name the same side that started the first leg 2-1 win over the French side.

Match facts

Paris Saint-Germain have never beaten Borussia Dortmund in European competition, drawing twice and losing once. Their only previous meeting at Parc des Princes was in November 2010, a goalless draw in the Europa League.

Borussia Dortmund have won three and lost three of their six away Champions League matches against French sides, both winning and losing against each of Auxerre, Marseille and Monaco.

PSG have never progressed to the next stage of the Champions League after losing the first leg of a knockout match, going out against Milan in 1994-95, Barcelona in 2014-15 and Real Madrid in 2017-18.

Borussia Dortmund have always progressed to the next stage of the Champions League after winning the first leg of a knockout match, doing so on all four previous occasions. The only team with a better 100% progression rate after winning the first leg is Juventus (11/11).

Paris SG have lost five of their last six Champions League knockout matches (W1), losing each of their last two at the Parc des Princes against Real Madrid in March 2018 and Manchester United in March 2019.

Borussia Dortmund have lost each of their last five away Champions League knockout matches, last tasting victory in February 2014 in a 4-2 win against Zenit under Jürgen Klopp.

Whoscored prediction: PSG 2-2 Dortmund
