Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has won his FIFTH Europa League after leading the Villans to European glory in Istanbul on Wednesday night, having also led them into the Premier League's top five this term too

Unai Emery will be rewarded for Aston Villa's Europa League triumph with an improved transfer budget of up to £100m.

Emery has become the toast of Villa after leading his side to their first European trophy since 1982, following their 3-0 thumping of Freiburg in Istanbul. The historic win was also the club's first silverware in three decades and saw stars like John McGinn and Ollie Watkins party with Prince William.

Emery is now plotting Villa's assault on the Champions League next season. The Spaniard led Villa to the quarter finals of Europe's elite competition last season, before going out 5-4 to eventual winners Paris Saint Germain. And Emery believes he can go deep in the Champions League again next time round - provided he can strengthen his squad this summer.

Emery is expected to hold talks with joint owner Nassef Sawaris in the coming weeks to thrash out a spending plan.

Emery, who took his squad and staff on an open top bus parade through Birmingham on Thursday, is keen to strengthen his midfield, and has targeted Celta Vigo star IIaix Moriba.

He has also put Fulham's Harry Wilson and Como's Jesus Rodriguez on his summer shopping list, and is desperate to keep hold of Youri Tielemans.

Emery will have to work within the Premier League's PSR rules, which will result in Jadon Sancho being released from his loan deal to get him off the club's wage bill. And Sawaris is willing to back his manager as best he can.

The Egyptian billionaire was in Istanbul to watch Villa lift the first silverware under his ownership. And he reckons more trophies could follow.

Sawaris said: "It's amazing. It means a lot. I can’t express myself with words.

"It's very special. An eight year ride and we saw here what hard work can do with Unai's effort and the whole team.

"It's an amazing win. And the sky's the limit."
