Unlucky Man City fan misses Kompany's winner as he pops out of the stadium

It was the defining moment of the season - Vincent Kompany's astonishing 30-yard thunderbolt to put Manchester City on the verge of winning another Premier League title.

So imagine being a City fan, being there at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night... and missing it.

That was the fate to befall one unfortunate supporter, who certainly picked the worst possible moment to pop out to the toilet.

Or perhaps the fan was leaving 20 minutes early to catch a train or beat the traffic. Either way, they missed what will become one of the most iconic moments in City's history.

A behind-the-ball angle of Kompany's swerving strike shown on television coverage on Monday night showed three or four fans with their backs to the action as they climbed the steps to leave the ground.

One dark silhouette was right at the top, entering the concourse at the moment Kompany's rocket screamed into the top corner.

The clip went viral on social media, with Twitter users commenting on how unlucky the exiting fan had been.

One wrote: 'Imagine if you're this fella and missed that Kompany goal!'

Another tweeted: 'Spare a thought for that Man City fan at the top of the picture who chose that Kompany moment to pop out for a wee.'

Another user joked: 'When you need the toilet, you need the toilet.'

Others were less forgiving, with one writing: 'Imagine being such a plastic fan you actually just take a stroll and miss that goal from Kompany!!!'

Surely the explosion of noise that greeted Kompany's goal would have had the supporter rushing back into the stadium.
