Utd transfer news round-up: Utd face PSG competition as youngster set to leave

Manchester United are set to have a quiet January transfer window, and are expected to continue to focus on young targets for the future.

The Red Devils could still offload players in the current window, with numerous players tipped to depart.

Amad Diallo has arrived this month, having been signed late in the summer transfer window.

The winger, who signed from Italian side Atalanta, will likely be their only incoming player this month.

But that doesn’t mean they won’t start making plans for the summer now, and could look to reignite their interest in Jadon Sancho.

A signing could still be made this winter if the right player comes along, though it seems there will be no blockbuster signings this month.

Here are today’s latest transfer rumours.

Fosu-Mensah to leave

One player expected to depart this month is young defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

The youngster has had flashes in the first team, but has never managed to nail down a starting spot.

Instead, he now appears to be ready to depart, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s admission that he will be allowed to leave.

Bayer Leverkusen are said to be ready to complete a £1.5million move for the defender.

The Bundesliga side are set to beat out competition from the likes of Ajax and Hertha Berlin.

Sancho admission

Sancho, who was United’s top target of the summer window, but United failed to fork out the £108m it would have required for Borussia Dortmund to sell.

Since then, he’s struggled to find his best form, and failed to find the net in his first 13 Bundesliga games of the season.

It appeared the speculation over his future had got the better of him, and now Sancho has addressed his lack of form and admitted he has found things difficult since the move collapsed.

He said: "Obviously this season has been very difficult for me personally.

"So I knew when I went away, I just focused on my game and came back raring to go.

"I'm working hard every day in training and on the pitch so I'm just happy to get my goals and assists."

Romain Faivre boost

Manchester United are set to battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain for youngster Romain Faivre.

The midfielder only joined Brest from Monaco for £450,000 in the previous summer transfer window, but already it seems he could be on the move.

Faivre can play on either wing, in an attacking midfield position or in the middle of the park.

French outlet Le10 Sport claims that, despite having signed a new contract recently to keep him at Brest until 2025, he could be on the move in the summer to Old Trafford.
