A. Valencia says he would drop everything to return to Manchester United and work with former teammate Carrick again.
The Ecuadorian star played for the Red Devils for a full decade between 2009 and 2019, and is a familiar face at Old Trafford.
A. Valencia made nearly 500 career appearances before officially retiring in 2021. He is now working as a pundit for the World Cup, alongside several well-known football commentators. Although he cherishes the opportunity to provide professional insights as a match commentator for the TV station, there is one invitation he would accept without hesitation: returning to Manchester United to assist Carrick. The two fought side-by-side in the Manchester United dressing room for nine years.
Carrick's coaching performance was impressive during his tenure as interim manager, leading the team back to the Champions League and securing third place in the Premier League. He was officially appointed head coach of the Manchester United first team last month.
A. Valencia said in an interview: "I sent him a message congratulating him on his appointment. I have great respect and affection for Carrick, and I wish him all the best in his coaching career. It seems he is doing very well.
Now that everything is on track, I am genuinely happy to see him continue to lead the team in the new season."
When asked if he would be willing to return to Manchester to join Carrick's coaching staff, the 40-year-old former player added: "I would be willing to go back. Manchester United gave me so much.
My family lived very comfortably in this city. Out of love, I would accept any position Manchester United offered. I deeply love this club and I believe all the team's current plans will proceed smoothly."
