Van Hecke: There is more to come from Tottenham

Jan Paul van Hecke insists there is "a lot more to come from Tottenham", after they recorded a third straight Premier League victory with a 2-0 win over 10-man Crystal Palace.

Spurs have struggled for consistency in the last few seasons, but they have put together an impressive run, with their latest victory moving them up to eighth in the top-flight table.

They played with a numerical advantage for the majority of the game after Jean-Philippe was sent off for catching Micky van de Ven from behind with his studs, receiving a 13th-minute red card following a VAR review.

Archie Gray and Van Hecke then scored the goals in either half to secure all three points for Spurs, who had 34 shots overall in this match – the most they have had in a Premier League game since February 2016 against Swansea City (34).

It is the first time they have won three consecutive league games since February 2025, and as many wins as they had in their previous 26 outings combined (D10 L13).

Van Hecke was full of praise for Roberto De Zerbi, whom he played under at Brighton, and is confident Spurs will continue to improve.

"He's a top manager. I have a really good relationship with him," he told Sky Sports.

"That's a big reason why I came here because he gets the best out of me, and I think there's a lot more to come from us.

"When you win games, the confidence grows. When you keep a clean sheet, that also helps.

"Now we need to stay calm and keep going, and we will win a lot of games for sure."

De Zerbi was impressed by the team's overall performance, but he also singled out Sandro Tonali in the middle of the park.

"I'm very happy with the performance because we showed to be a mature team with clear ideas, and we didn't concede a counter-attack, maybe just one in the second half," he said in his press conference.

"We created many, many chances. If we want to follow the perfection, we have to be more nasty.

"[Sandro] Tonali was unbelievable, incredible. We played with two players more. Tonali was the double."

As for Palace, they finish the day sitting in the relegation zone. It is the first time they have lost three straight league games without scoring since March 2023.

The Eagles have conceded six headed goals in the Premier League this season, twice as many as any other side (Chelsea and Aston Villa – both three).

Among ever-present sides, Palace have lost the most games (15) and conceded the most goals (52) of any Premier League side in 2026, with their latest win piling more pressure on Pierre Sage.

Some of that had eased with their mid-week EFL Cup win over Fulham, but Sage is not letting it get to him as he vowed to keep fighting.

"Yes, [relegation], it's a disaster for every club in the Premier League and especially that I have to speak about my club," he said.

"You know I'm not comfortable with the situation in the table, but it's a consequence of what we did bad on the pitch.

"My only way to change a thing is to go on the pitch. That is why I talk to the players, and I want to be the first on the pitch on Monday. They can trust in me. I will never give up.

"I will do the best session I can do on Monday because now I have the rage to train more because the game I saw was not in line with my conviction.

"They [Palace fans] can trust in me because I will give my life. I am the kind of person who never gives up."
