Leon Bailey linked with Villa
Leon Bailey has been plying his trade in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen since January of 2017.
In that time he has scored 39 and assisted 26 in 156 outings across all competitions.
Now, the winger, who has just under two years left on his current contract, has been linked with a move to Aston Villa.
Villa are said to be in talks with Leverkusen over a deal for the Jamaican after missing out on Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe.
And now, as per the Birmingham Mail:
Aston Villa are now the runaway favourites to land Bayern Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
Keeper not going anywhere
Whilst Villa may be favourites for Bailey, they have been sent a hands-off message over Jack Stevens.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper was linked with Aston Villa last week. However, Dean Smith’s side are said to have had a bid rejected by his current club, Oxford United.
Oxford boss Karl Robinson also stated recently that Stevens is ‘not going’:
‘He’s not going. There’s a price tag on our players, and Jack appreciates that.
‘It’s fantastic for him, but it’s also fantastic we said no. It’s not the only bid we’ve said no to. Just because people don’t read it doesn’t mean we haven’t turned away bids for some other players as well.
‘We got what we wanted out of the Rob Atkinson deal (to Bristol City), and we’re still trying to fill that void. The club conducts itself very well in the transfer window, coming in and going out.’
Villa interested in Axel Tuanzebe
Finally, the Express and Star are reporting that Villa have enquired about a loan move for Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe.
Tuanzebe has previously spent time at Villa Park and would help them clinch promotion to the Premier League.
Since returning to Man United, though, he has found his minutes limited, which will unlikely be helped by the imminent arrival of Raphael Varane.
But Villa may face some competition for Tuanzebe, with fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle United also linked of late.
