Real Madrid are keen for Vinicius Junior to lead their quest for glory despite fresh links with PSG striker Kylian Mbappe.

The 22-year-old Brazilian last summer signed a contract with Real that runs until 2027 and includes a €1billion (£867million) release clause, according to the Telegraph.

And his agent, Frederico Pena, said his client could stay at the Spanish giants for his entire career.

He said: 'Vini is very close with Real Madrid and he's so happy there. He's very at ease, he loves the club. He's been there so long, he's kind of turned into a man there.

'I would tell you right now there's a big chance that he's the kind of player who stays in one club and makes history there and stays there for 15-plus years.'

Real retain an interest in Mbappe and are closing in on England midfielder Jude Bellingham as they seek to herald a new era of Galacticos.

'I think the Ronaldo and Messi era was very, very unique,' added Pena. 'I don't know if we can think about a rivalry to match that over such a long period of time.

'I think we'll go back to a time where there's a bigger group of players who will be in that spotlight. For instance, Haaland is playing in the Premier League, which has the biggest global reach and that will play a part. But Haaland plays for Norway who are not fighting for the World Cup, so I think we will go back to a healthy time like when there was Ronaldo and Zidane and Ronaldinho, and other players.'

Man City defender Kyle Walker revealed he embraced with Vinicius after their Champions League semi-final first leg clash because the Real Madrid star attempted to rainbow-flick him.

The pair enjoyed an entertaining clash down the left flank at the Bernabeu in the 1-1 draw last week - with both players regarded as one of the best in the world in their positions.

At the end of the game, the two shared a surprising embrace, with both seemingly thrilled to see their counterpart, despite the tie being only halfway to completion.

And with Brazilian forward Vinicius in red hot form - and having scored a stunning goal in the first leg - much of the questioning ahead of the return fixture centred around another duel in Wednesday's second leg.

When asked for the reasoning behind their hug, Walker revealed that there was a hidden warning from him to his opponent, before claiming that the smiles would stop come the first whistle on Wednesday night.

'Well I went to hug him, because he tried to rainbow flick me, don’t try that, because I don’t want to become a meme.

'No but we had a good battle, I have a lot of respect for him, it when it has been a good game, a good a battle, and at the end of it, you show your respect.

'When the whistle goes tomorrow though, that goes out of the window, and it’s dog eat dog.'
