Arsenal Women striker Vivianne Miedema has signed a new long term contract with the club. The Dutch striker is considered one of the finest centre forwards in world football and has committed her future to Arsenal having scored 29 goals in 28 appearances since her arrival.

Miedema scored the winning goal in last season’s Conti Cup Final against Manchester City, she also registered at Wembley in the 3-1 FA Cup Final defeat to Chelsea in May. Viv is the WSL top scorer this season with 14 goals.

Manager Joe Montemurro told arsenal.com, “Vivianne is a fantastic striker, one of the best in the women’s game. She has a fantastic skill to find the back of the net in some of the most difficult positions, and her hunger to score and win is something that every team needs. We’re delighted that she’s signed a new long term contract with us.”

Miedema said, “I think the direction the club is going in, me being happy here, the fact we’re playing good football, it all made me really appreciate the club. I just want to be a part of what we’re doing here and keep growing. I’m happy and I hope we’re just going to do a lot of good stuff at the club.”

Miedema is joined by ex Bayern Munich teammate Lisa Evans, who also signed new terms this week. Scottish international Evans told Arsenal Player, “I think the club’s definitely going in the right direction in terms of where we want to be.

“We obviously want to be back in the Champions League and I feel like this club, this group of players, the staff, we can go to so many more different levels. That was the biggest thing for why I wanted to stay at this amazing club.

“We obviously have a small group of players and we can just bounce off each other. We’re really honest with each other and Joe’s an absolutely fantastic coach.”
