Wanyama insists Tottenham CAN recover from early-season slump

Victor Wanyama is convinced Tottenham will arrest their poor start to the season and can get back to their best - starting against Watford this weekend.

Wanyama, speaking to Nairobi News in Kenya after playing 90 minutes in a friendly defeat to Mozambique this week, is confident the bad form is nothing more than a momentary blip.

'We [Tottenham] are facing tough times and my focus is fully helping the team overcome that,' Wanyama said.

'We are working very hard and shall be back to our best.'

Wanyama has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs and looked set for a summer exit from north London with Belgian side Club Brugge interested.

But while he has struggled for matches this season, Wanyama is not looking to exit, rather fight for his place and re-establish himself as a primary option.

'Of course I was unsettled with the transfer news because it was coming in the news every day,' Wanyama told Goal.

'What happened in the transfer window is passed me now and my main focus is to train as hard as I can to make sure I regain my position in the team.

'I don't think it is difficult to win my position back, I just need to push myself even harder and keep working hard in training to achieve the same and I know it will happen soon.
