Roberto Pereyra was the hero as Watford got their 2018/19 campaign off to a winning start against Brighton on home soil at Vicarage Road.
The Argentine forward netted the first brace of the new Premier League season, successfully dispatching a terrific volley after a Jose Holebas corner.
He doubled his tally nine minutes after the interval, once again picking up the ball from Holebas before curling another unstoppable strike beyond the grasp of Mathew Ryan.
