Watford have put star forward Ismaila Sarr up for sale at £40million as they look to come to terms with Premier League relegation, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with Premier League champions Liverpool as well as Wolves and Crystal Palace in recent weeks.
But The Sun claim that despite Liverpool's interest it is Palace who now lead the race for the Senegal international, and are prepared to bring him to Selhurst Park regardless of whether or not Wilfried Zaha remains at the club.
The report claims the Senegalese winger has been offered to several clubs at the £40m fee to create an auction, with Vicarage Road chiefs having already contacted Liverpool and Wolves.
But the same outlet reports that neither Jurgen Klopp's side nor Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit are in a position to bid for Sarr despite their admiration of him.
It comes after reports earlier in the week that the Reds had made contact with Sarr's agent for the Watford star, who scored five goals and recorded six assists in 28 top-flight matches last season.
The report however adds that should the Hornets fail to drop the asking price they are currently quoting clubs, Palace may look to another London side in the Championship to reinforce their attacking options.
It claims the Eagles are interested in signing Brentford star attacking duo Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins.
Watford are also reportedly trying to move on former Barcelona and Everton wideman Gerard Deulofeu, but his £15m fee and £85,000-a-week wages may prove to be stumbling blocks for potential suitors.
Meanwhile, Palace are also reportedly in talks with Ireland midfielder James McCarthy about a new contract.
McCarthy, 29, joined the Eagles a year ago and he is keen to extend his stay.

This is not ideal for Watford. They will end up selling for just $25m
