Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson were centre stage in Liverpool's post-match celebrations following the 2-1 Merseyside derby win over Everton, but Wayne Rooney was not impressed
Former Everton striker Wayne Rooney took issue with Liverpool's post-match antics following their thrilling 2-1 Merseyside derby victory. Rooney was left rattled by Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson leading the jubilations after Virgil van Dijk's 100th-minute header in the duo's final clash with the Blues.
The Premier League and Champions League-winning pair will say their goodbyes to Anfield at the end of the season after confirming their respective exits. Salah shocked supporters after revealing his departure during the international break, a year into his two-year deal. Robertson outlined his plans beyond next season, with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign.
During the post-match celebrations at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Salah, Robertson and debutant Freddie Woodman basked in the adulation of the crowd. Yet it was the roles of both the Scot and the Egyptian that particularly got under the skin of the former Manchester United talisman.
While speaking on his podcast, he had been discussing Bernardo Silva's performance and his subsequent Manchester City departure, which was confirmed last week. This prompted Rooney to air his grievances over the celebrations involving the two Liverpool legends.
He said: "He's been brilliant for Man City over nine or 10 years and I thought today, he was fantastic... It seems to be a trend where players are leaving before the end of the season, I just don't like it, it really gets to me.
"Seeing at the end of the (Merseyside) derby, Liverpool players pushing Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah to the fans, it becomes about them players rather than the team. Them players deserve massive send offs but I just don't like it, just wait until the end of the season."

Asked whether players announcing their exits before the campaign ends helps to quieten rumours, Rooney wasn't interested.
The 40-year-old said: "Not really, I suppose the speculation is going to get even more. Now, 'who's Mo Salah going to sign for? Is he going to Saudi? What team is he going to be playing for next season?
"I don't think it stops any speculation, I'm not putting this purely on the players or if it's the clubs doing it or announcing it.
"When you're in a team game, it's a team game and when it gets to the end of the season, especially Mo Salah deserves all the plaudits in the world for what he's done with Liverpool but let's just get on with the game and the rest of the season."
Salah was amongst the goalscorers for the Reds and claimed the Player of the Match accolade after breaking the deadlock against Liverpool's local foes.
The Egyptian exploited space behind the Everton defence and struck with precision following an excellent Cody Gakpo pass.
The 33-year-old has endured a turbulent campaign on Merseyside, not without its fair share of controversy, having struggled to recapture the form that helped fire Liverpool to the Premier League title.
Robertson has seen his playing time restricted following Milos Kerkez's arrival from Bournemouth. The Scotland skipper attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur during the winter transfer window, as he entered the last six months of his deal at Anfield.
