The Broadcaster Bein Sports has issued a statement on the quotes that caused a stir.
Quotes emerged on a Manchester United news account on Twitter on Thursday morning, suggesting that the former Arsenal boss had been talking to BeIn Sports about United, saying it would be the "dream job" for any manager.
The comments caused quite a stir on social media, with fans of both Arsenal and Manchester United having a view.
But BeIn Sports were quick to confirm that the comments were fake, despite having been picked up by a number of media outlets.
A spokesman for Bein Sports said: "Arsene hasn't been a guest of beIN SPORTS in recent weeks so the quotes weren't given to us. We last spoke to him at the start of the month and these comments weren't from that interview."
In the aftermath Bein Sports posted a video on their official Twitter account with the caption: "What Arsene Wenger REALLY said about Manchester United."

Wenger is quoted as saying: "When you see Man United there is potential there but they have not found a collective way, maybe because these players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man United altogether.
"You feel there's something coming out but it's not ready. When you watch them play they are not candidates to fight for the championship.
"Will they emulate what Giggs, Scholes, Beckham did over the years? Personally I'm not convinced."

I dont doubt Wengers passion for the game and maybe I was a bit over the top with my interpretation but the description is not really exact. Surely with appointing a greatly popular figure like Wenger in a FIFA role they had another motive in mind besides gaining from his experience.

Why would they pick him, someone with no experience in this position, who hates super agents and who was laughed at every summer for his disastrous transfer windows, over Leonardo, one of the most competent sporting director around?
