West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass is in talks over a move to West Bromwich Albion.
The 33-year-old Scotland international is out of contract in the summer but is looking for West Brom to take over his current deal with the option of a further year.
West Ham would then allow him to leave on a free and keep West Brom's other domestic loan slot open.
A permanent move for Snodgrass would retain Allardyce's remaining loan slot available for another signing this window, after Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher joined the Baggies on a season-long loan in September.
Snodgrass has made six appearances for West Ham this season and is deemed surplus to requirements at the London Stadium.
The 33-year-old does have two goals to his name, though now struggles for first team minutes.
He signed for the West Ham in January 2017 under previous manager Slaven Bilic.
It was Bilic who Allardyce recently replaced at the Hawthorns, following a poor start to the season.
West Brom currently sit 19th in the Premier League with eight points from their opening 17 games of the season and are without a win from Allardyce's opening four games though secured a draw against reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield.
