Striker Michail Antonio was absent, though Maxwel Cornet made his long-awaited return after five months out with a calf injury. The second half also saw Villa not be awarded a penalty of their own despite the decision going to VAR.
The stalemate leaves West Ham in 17th and out of the relegation zone on goal difference after Bournemouth stunned Liverpool with a 1-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
