West Ham United have reportedly changed their minds after initially giving the all-clear for Fiorentina to buy Pedro Obiang at €10m.
Multiple Italian sources last night stated it was a done deal worth €10m plus performance-related bonuses.
However, this morning Sportitalia claim West Ham patron David Sullivan changed his mind and decided to resist the offer.
Obiang was all set to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Viola.
The 26-year-old Guinea international spent most of his career in Italy, coming up through the Sampdoria youth academy and leaving for €6m in 2015.
Part of the problem is West Ham’s failure to find a replacement, as it’s also reported another offer for Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara was rejected.

i’m very skeptical we have the money to bring Diawara in, even with the ~£10M we’d get for Obiang. Obiang to either Shelvey or Medel is a downgrade. I’d only be okay with selling Obiang if we got in someone like Diawara.

Putting various rumours together, it looks as though he could be replaced by Gary Medel. Probably pretty much the same impact in midfield but Medel gives us cover at CB where we're pretty light at the moment. We have Diop and Ogbonna but behind that it's Balbuena (injured), Reid (missing, presumed dead) and Rice (needed in mdfield).

do West Ham really have enough central midfielders? Noble, Rice, a perpetually injured Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez who I don't remember seeing since the beggining of the season

I will always think fondly of Pedro for that thunderbastard of a goal against Spurs, but we do need to recycle some players and try and upgrade the squad. Out of the two players mentioned I would prefer Shelvey.

Obiang to Medel/Shelvey is a big downgrade for me. Can’t we get better players ? Our. midfield which is already the weakest area, will get even more older and un athletic. Shelvey is as slow as noble and Medel is about 45
