West Ham United have signed exciting young forward Ademipo Odubeko after he turned down a new contract with Manchester United.
The 17-year-old scored 35 goals for United's Under-18s last season and was viewed as one of the club's hottest prospects.
But the Republic of Ireland Under-17 international's contract expired at the end of June and he rejected the offer of an extension - believing his development would be better served away from United.
Odubeko's availability alerted clubs across the continent, with Feyenoord, Bayern Munich and Genoa reportedly taking an interest, but the striker opted to join the Hammers instead.
'It's a really exciting day,' Odubeko told the West Ham website.
'I've been waiting for this move for a while, so I'm looking forward to getting started.
'West Ham is a club with a lot of history behind it. It promotes its young players, so it's a great opportunity for me to develop my game and help the team.
'I'm looking forward to moving to London – it'll be a little different to Manchester, so it's an exciting challenge.'
The Tallaght-born teenager moved to England in 2015 and was made to choose between Manchester United and City. He was without a club during pre-season but insists he is fully focused after a summer of inactivity.
'I've been out for a while now, so now I'm just excited to get going – and get scoring,' he added.
'I always set high expectations for myself, so I'm looking to score a lot of goals for West Ham this season.'
Odubeko is expected to start training with the Under-18s whilst working closely with the Under-23s as the season progresses.
