West Ham will not give up on their pursuit of Wolves captain Max Kilman despite having a bid of around £25million rejected.
As first reported by the Telegraph, Wolves turned down the Hammers’ first approach for the 27-year-old defender, who signed a new five-year contract last summer.
Mail Sport understands that West Ham see Kilman as a high priority target and will not be deterred by Wolves’ rebuttal of their first bid.
New Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui is keen to bring Kilman to the London Stadium having worked with the defender during his time with Wolves.
West Ham are keen to strengthen their defensive area after they went 18 Premier League games without a clean sheet in the second half of last season.
Hull City's Jacob Greaves is also a target, but they face competition from other Premier League clubs while the Tigers will also push hard to keep him.
Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme became West Ham’s first signing of the summer last week, with the forward joining from Corinthians for a fee of £19.2million.
West Ham’s sporting director Tim Steidten is leading on the club’s transfer strategy, though Lopetegui will still have an input into incomings and outgoings.
Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri is also understood to be a target.
