When Mohamed Salah went through on goal for the second time in the match on Sunday afternoon, Manchester City fans will have been hoping that Ederson would have been able to produce the same heroics of his previous one-on-one with the Egyptian.
However, it was Salah who came out on top, finishing into the corner of the City goal, with Pep Guardiola on his knees on the sidelines. It was the seventh goal in 17 games that he has scored against City and a common sight for the Catalan manager, with the forward having performed at a high level for a number of years now.
The first time he was through on goal in the 54th minute, Salah was denied by a fingertips save from Brazil goalkeeper Ederson, with almost the whole stadium holding its breath believing he had scored. However, he did not and City went up the other end minutes later to score before that goal was chalked off by VAR.
Then, in the 76th minute, a precise long ball from Alisson found its way to Salah, whose sublime first touch saw the whole pitch open out in front of him. There was no mistake from the Liverpool man this time as he lifted the ball slightly to score and avoid the desperate clutches of Ederson.
Guardiola's reaction was captured, with the City boss sinking to his knees as soon as Salah was through seemingly aware of the inevitability of a goal. This goal was summed up by Gary Neville when speaking to Sky Sports after the match, with the former United man lauding Salah's contribution.
He said: " This is special, all the talk before the game of Erling Haaland but he has just reminded us of what world-class looks like. Alisson sees that Salah is against Cancelo one-on-one and this is absolutely amazing from Salah.
"This time faced one-on-one with Ederson, he is never ever going to miss that. That first bit is mesmerising, the strength, the touch, underpressure, the finish just scoops it. What a moment that is."

who condemned him?if Pep condemns you, then you have to respond by playing better not by throwing tantrums and fighting a coach who brought you out of doldrum at Juventus, stay humble and learn from the greatest coach of our generation!!!

I understand ur point bro. but concerning how he made cancelo looks useless by condemning him is why I'm trying to correct him on. we all know how hardworking cancelo is, everybody has a bad day and that was his bad day so that doesn't mean his as useless as he painted him

I agree, but what he did even in his usual position is awful, misplaced passes and awkward shots, this is a team sports you defend for one another and provide for one another in offensively and defensively, mind you he is a defender, that ball is a primary defensive duty that even an amateur defender can deal with, even if you miss the ball be prepared to chase the Carrier down or even foul him than surrender like a kindergarten player, man! Cancelo, if he was a child, need 12strokes of the Cane!!!

Liverpool played good.....As a mancity fan.....we shoul not criticize haaland and cancelo for the performance against liverpool....these mistakes happen all over the world......so we should not judge anyone by their one and only one match performance ......by the way we should concentrate on our incoming games......respect to both Clubs.....#Liverpool❤#ManCity💙

Cancelo dealt a hard blow to his mancity career by that mistake, those who have been questioning the reason Juventus let him go can see the obvious! he is a disaster defensively, even offensively he misplaced passes and shoot wayward,Cancelo decided to sell the match to Liverpool!!!

it's is the harsh truth mister, his mistakes allowed Liverpool to win that match, your biggest rival who got better of you in community shield you still contrived to give easy chances to hurt you?what do you call that, harsh truth?Who wouldn't thrive if given those chances on a platter as Cancelo did to Salah, first one Ederson saved it, what do you want Ederson to do again? If not Ederson heroics Liverpool should have humiliated mancity with a shameful scoreline, Salah simply did what he does best,am not slanderous here,I never call him names or try to humiliating him,so your slandering holds no water!bad day happens in office but when it occurs regularly it becomes habit, twice beaten is not an isolation it's domination!!!

That’s harsh and slanderous towards a player who’s highly important to City. The greatest of footballers have made mistakes in their careers. It doesn’t mean they’re suddenly useless. You’re also not acknowledging the skills of Sala in that moment, and then there’s still the keeper up against Sala one on one unable to stop him scoring. And It’s always your own prospective, or hatefulness, and it’s shameful of you to comment so hatefully. You should be pitied

PEP went down on his knees, thinking that the sun would shone on those that knelt before it shone on those that stood.. Mo Salah wasn't going to miss.
