The English top flight action never seems to stop and, although sometimes challenging for managers and players, it’s all lapped up by fans.
As 1 January 2024 rolls around, we can all set in motion the positive vibes for the start of another calendar year. At least once any hangovers from the night before have subsided. In the hectic world of English football, this optimism from players and fans alike will refocus on the objectives for the season, somewhat tempered or adjusted by what has gone before in the first half of the campaign. Giving up on Premier League title ambitions but settling for a top four (or five) place may be the new goal. Confidently seeing the battle to avoid the dreaded drop out of the league as possible is another. And January brings with it the chance to bolster the squad with the winter transfer window opening.
Premier League starts 2024 at Anfield
The Premier League games over the festive period have been a delight in terms of excitement, at least for the neutrals out there, and the first day of the new year is, on paper at least, set to keep the fireworks cracking. That said, there is only one game lined up for us, maybe with thoughts of those fluid excesses on the schedulers’ minds. But it’s a goodie!
The famous Anfield stadium will be host to the New Year’s Day game, as title challengers Liverpool welcome Newcastle United to town. It’s an evening kick off in England (9 p.m. local time) so will be under the floodlights, which makes it a very palatable 3 p.m. ET and 12 noon PT.
What other EPL games are on in the new year?
The Premier League fixtures over new year run from Saturday 30 December to Tuesday 2 January. Here’s the full list to ensure you get yourself freed up and in front of a screen.
