Arsenal’s win over Manchester United means their Premier League title race with Manchester City will be decided on the final day of the season.
The Premier League title race will go down to the final day of the season after Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. The victory moved Mikel Arteta’s team back above Manchester City to the top of the table, although Pep Guardiola’s side remain in pole position going into the final two matches.
What City and Arsenal need to do in the final week of the Premier League season
The Gunners are a point clear in first spot but have just one fixture remaining - at home to Everton next Sunday (19 May).
City, meanwhile, have two matches left, which means their fate is in their own hands. If the defending champions win away to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday and against West Ham at the Etihad next weekend, they will lift the trophy for the fifth time in six seasons.
Arsenal, therefore, will almost certainly have to beat Everton to have any chance of finishing top of the pile. If they do, they need City to take no more than three points from their last two fixtures (a win and a defeat) to be guaranteed champions.
What happens if City and Arsenal finish level on points?
The Gunners could also win the league if they win next Sunday and City take four points from their remaining games (a victory and a draw), depending on goal difference, the first tiebreaker if two teams finish level on points.
Arsenal are currently three goals better off than their title rivals, although the Sky Blues could quite conceivably make that up, especially with an extra game to play.
The only way the Londoners could be crowned Premier League champions with a draw is if City take no more than a point (a draw and a defeat) in the last two matches. Arsenal would only win the league with a defeat against Everton if the Manchester side were to finish the season with back-to-back losses.
Ironically, Arsenal will be hoping bitter rivals Spurs can do them a huge favour in City’s game in hand on Tuesday night. Although Ange Postecoglu’s side are in poor form, they have won the last four Premier League meetings between the teams in London.

Yes, it is true Arsenal also need a share. of the proceeds. A draw for Tottenham Hotspurs against Manchester city will do the trick for us. It is possible.
