What has your team spent this summer: Chelsea leading the way

Manchester United are closing in on a big money swoop for the Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui that will take their summer spend just shy of £150million.

The Red Devils have been one of the most active Premier League sides in this window, as the club in its revamped form have looked to bounce back from their woeful campaign last term.

At present, United's outlay on youngsters Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee amounts to around £89m - the fifth highest total among top-flight clubs - with only 18 days left until the window slams shut at the end of the month.

The likes of Aston Villa, West Ham and Tottenham have all reached deeper into their pockets to improve their squads ahead of the new campaign. But the undisputed kings of activity remain clear at the top.

Chelsea under the Boehly-Clearlake ownership have what appears to be an insatiable to desire to acquire footballers from across the globe, particularly young ones from South America.

Chelsea's surprise £54m purchase of Pedro Neto from Wolves was their 10th first team signing of the summer window and there are reports of the Blues doing further business before the deadline.

Enzo Maresca, like Mauricio Pochettino, Frank Lampard and Graham Potter before him, will have a tough task picking only 25 stars for their Premier League roster. In total, Chelsea have spent a whopping £199m.

Then, rather surprisingly, comes Villa on £150.87m and the Hammers with an expenditure of £108.57m. Villa are heading into their first Champions League campaign in a generation, while the Hammers - under new boss Julen Lopetegui - have their sights firmly set on returning to Europe.

Villa lead the way in player sales

It is more understandable that Unai Emery's men would feature so highly in the incomings list when consideration is given to how much they have pocketed in player sales this summer.

Notable departures have included Douglas Luiz, who moved to Italian giants Juventus for £21m, Omari Kellyman's switch to Stamford Bridge for £19m and Moussa Diaby's £50m move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad.

In all, the Midlands outfit have recouped £109.09m from departures this summer which has been a major force in driving the acquisitions of the likes of Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen and Cameron Archer.

Black Country rivals Wolves have also racked in millions this summer, with high profile sales that have included Max Kilman to West Ham for £40m and Neto's switch to Chelsea.

Gary O'Neil's side are have actually made a profit from their business. They are one of nine teams in the black with only a few weeks left to go in the window.

Premier League side making a profit

Wolves are the side that have generated the largest  profit from their business this summer with £63.79m. Just behind them is Everton and Crystal Palace, who have made £28.22m and £20.03m respectively.

The Eagles received a large windfall from the sale of Michael Olise to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich earlier this summer, while Everton received £50m from Villa for Onana.

However, the next name on the list is a shocking one, as Manchester City sit fourth on a figure of £13.70m. And that's not accounting for the mammoth £81m fee they'll receive from Atletico Madrid for Julien Alvarez.

Pep Guardiola's side have only made one signing so far this summer - Savio from sister club Troyes for £33m - while they have banked millions with the sales of Sergio Gomez, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and Liam Delap.

Another peculiar club on this side of the expenditure table is Liverpool, who are the only club yet to add to their roster this summer. Reds chiefs and supporters, were left frustrated after Martin Zubimendi's decision to stay at Real Sociedad.

Even when it does, the Reds have a chance of ending the window in the black with several fringe players earmarked for departures from the end of the month.

Will any transfer eclipse Tottenham's purchase of Solanke?

Tottenham went big on the signing of Dominic Solanke last week, parting with £65m to bring the former Chelsea, Liverpool and Bournemouth striker to north London.

Time will tell whether that proves to be a good investment but right now it appears to be the biggest deal we'll see Premier League clubs make this summer.

Before that, United's £52m signing of Leny Yoro from Lille was the biggest move of the window. That mark has since been bettered by Neto's transfer to Chelsea, while Villa and Arsenal have also completed large deals this summer.
