Klopp’s side went on the rampage against Bournemouth at Anfield, knocking in nine goals without reply.
Liverpool beat Bournemouth 9-0 on Saturday afternoon to set a new club record for the biggest win in the Premier League. The previous high-water mark was a 7-0 win over Crystal Palace away, set on 19 December 2020. It also equals the record for the biggest win ever in the Premier League, set by Manchester United against Ipswich Town on March 4, 1995.
The 9-0 win also equals Liverpool’s biggest 1st division win at Anfield, against Crystal Palace in September 1989.
Klopp’s side set the new record with goals from Luis Díaz (2′, 84′,) Harvey Elliot (5′), Trent Alexander-Arnold (27′), Roberto Firmino (30′, 61′), Virgil Van Dijk (44′), Mepham (45′ (p))) and Fabio Carvalho (79′).
Today’s nine goals were the same number as Liverpool had managed in their previous five Premier League games combined. The win moves them up to eighth as things stand, with several teams still to play this weekend.
The thrashing of Bournemouth however is not Liverpool’s biggest ever win. That came against Stromsgodset in the European Cup Winners’ Cup on 17 September 1974, with an 11-0 tonking of the Norwegian outfit.
It’s also not Liverpool’s biggest ever league win. Back in 1899, in the second division, they scored 10 against Rotherham Town, though did concede 1.

Today’s game was a display of utter sheer dominance from Liverpool, they controlled every aspect of the game from start to the finish scoring nine goals and keeping a clean sheet, this is how I expected Liverpool to have started the season well it’s not too late this win is just the beginning hopefully we would be able to build on this and continue this newly found winning mentality,Firmino was brilliant today showed us all he still has he’s playmaking ability, our super subs tsiksmas and carvalho they came on with minutes left still managed to make an impact in the game, our defense was pretty solid much more better van dijk arnold and Robertson were involved up front too,a very good game Hope this run continues and beyond YNWA
