Only Sheffield United and Burnley has accumulated fewer points than Chelsea in the second half of Premier League games this season, while league leaders Liverpool are only slightly better in the first 45 than Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp's side lead the way after 27 games but feel Manchester City's presence just a point back and Arsenal, who play the Blades on Monday night, expected to return to a point behind them.

Highlighted in this weekend's latest late win, on this occasion at the expense of Nottingham Forest, the Reds have made a habit of prevailing from losing positions and finding a way as the clock ticks closer to 90. Or even once well past it.

The Anfield club is unmatched after the break, earning 64 points - nine more than the Gunners in second. Klopp's side have also scored the most goals (42) and conceded the fewest (11) after the interval.

On the flip side, it is Unai Emery's Aston Villa who have racked up the most points in the first 45, though they enjoy just a point advantage over Man City. Liverpool, by contrast, are in a mess of sides in the chasing pack.

One point behind Arsenal, they have managed to earn two more points than Newcastle and Chelsea and five more than Man United.

Chelsea, who rank eighth in the first-half league table - a less than impressive position - would be relegation candidates based solely on their results after the interval.

Mauricio Pochettino's side dropped into the league's bottom half on Saturday after a 2-2 draw at an out-of-form Brentford, a game in which they conceded twice after the break before scoring late on through Axel Disasi.

It's second-half performance like that would have seen the Blues rack up just 24 points from their 26 games, a woeful record that only the Blades and Burnley have failed to eclipse.
