While some may question the possibility of Man United signing Chelsea star Mason Mount, they may be unaware of the players that have walked the path before him.
It was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the Red Devils had marked England international Mount as one of their main transfer priorities in the summer.
Erik ten Hag's side will likely face competition from a number of other Premier League sides, with Mikel Arteta's Arsenal heavy-linked with the midfielder.
However, Man United's pursuit of Mount may be boosted by the healthy relationship held between the two clubs - having entered into business plenty of times before.
And so, here, Mail Sport outlines the players that have previously made the switch from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford.
Ray Wilkins
The late Ray Wilkins will always be remembered as one of England's finest footballers and one of the first to ever make the switch from Chelsea to Manchester United.
Wilkins, who passed away at the age of 68 in April 2018, had made with his boyhood club - Chelsea - throughout the 1970s after initially joining as an apprentice.
At the age of 18, the midfielder was appointed as the club captain and helped the Blues earn promotion back to the First Division with his stellar performances.
He managed to score 30 goals from 179 appearances for the west London side before eventually leaving to join Manchester United in 1979.
Wilkins joined the Red Devils for £825,000, which was the most that Chelsea had received for a single player at the time.
In his five years at the club, he would go on to score 10 goals in all competitions and would collect accolades such as the fan-voted player of the year away in 1984.
Eventually, his performances for United drew attention from across Europe and it wasn't long before Italian giants, successfully, launched a £1.5million bid for Wilkins.
Stints at Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace, Rangers, Hibernian and more saw Wilkins wrap up a tremendous career in 1997.
Juan Mata
After Wilkins, came Mata. The Spanish playmaker forged his name in Spain, Valencia to be precise, before eventually earning a move to Stamford Bridge in 2011.
The £23.5million signing lived up to expectations immediately, after recording six goals and 13 assists in his first Premier League campaign.
In total, Mata would muster 32 goals and 58 assists from his 135 appearances for the Blues. He'd also go on to claim a Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup during that period.
Despite earning back-to-back player of the year awards at Chelsea, his time in west London would come to an end during the winter transfer window in 2014.
Newly-appointed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was not a fan of the Spaniard and quickly shipped him off to Old Trafford, after the Red Devils bid £37.1 million.
The attacking playmaker would go on to spend nine years with United, initially starting as a key player before his appearances dwindled in later years.
In his 285 appearances for the Red Devils, he'd go on to score 51 goals and get 47 assists while winning the FA Cup, Europa League and League Cup along the way.
He called an end to his time in Manchester during the last summer transfer window and has since been plying his trade in Turkey with Super Lig side Galatasaray.
Nemanja Matic
Unless Mason Mount does complete a move to Old Trafford, the third and final player to have made that switch is Serbian midfield maestro Nemanja Matic.
The defensive midfielder had an interesting path to west London, after initially joining from Košice for a fee of around £1.5 million in 2009.
He would make just two appearances in that stint at the club before leaving for Portuguese outfit Benfica just two years later, where he shone.
His performances in Portugal raised suggestions that Chelsea should never have parted ways with him and, three years after selling him, re-signed him for £21 million.
He proved to be a crucial player for the Blues, during his four year stint there, where he helped the club win two Premier League trophies and an FA Cup.
In 2017, Man United saw Matic as one of their number one priorities and quickly launched a £40 million bid for the midfielder, which was successful.
Despite spending a year more at United than at Chelsea, the Serb left Old Trafford without a trophy to his name.
He moved to Italian outfit Roma in the recent summer window, where he linked up with Jose Mourinho for the third time in his professional career.

Why is it that Chelsea don't always scout for Manchester United players?. Maybe 🤔 they're not good enough to play @ Stamford bridge or, maybe they are liabilities.
