De Jong have proved himself with a team not as big as Barca and Madrid in terms of player quality. And in that same team, he became world number one midfielder and still holds the record of the best midfielder currently. But we all know he ain't playing so well at the moment but not so bad because Barca team are in some kinda shit right now. He proved himself when he first came. I get your point and between these 2, Valverde is my pick for now too. But to say a midfielder should be able to play all positions in midfield would be a mistake. I saw Henderson play as No 6 for a whole season and I seriously questioned him as a footballer, let alone a Captain. Then when Fabinho made the DM position his and Henderson played a little upfield, we saw more life, more spark and creativity in his game. They have to play in their most natural position constantly to perform, and should they be played out of position, they need time to learn and adapt.
