According to Corriere Dello Sport, Manchester United have been linked with Portuguese duo Joao Felix and Francisco Trincao. Felix has been in the headlines for over a month now but United's pursuit of Trincao is a new story and here's everything you need to know about the 19-year old.
Francisco Trincao is a versatile forward who plays for Portuguese side SC Braga's B team. The 19-year-old has represented Portugal in the under-17 and under-19 levels and was the recipient of the golden boot in Portugal's under-19 World Championships triumph.
Following his impressive performances in the tournament, the 19-year-old attracted interest from a number of clubs including Juventus, Arsenal and Wolves. However, Braga managed to keep him at the club for another season.
Trincao's style of play is similar to former Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes. Fast, versatile and with a fantastic left foot, the 19-year-old is also a brilliant dribbler of the ball and has the ability to get away from his markers with ease.
The Portuguese hasn't yet broken into Braga's first-team but his ability is well known. Trincao has fantastic composure on the ball and uses his quick feet to make space for himself even when surrounded by the opposition.
Trincao, like Reyes, has exceptional awareness of space and is often seen picking up empty space in and around the box and once he picks up the ball, he uses it to devastating effect.
The youngster is at times unpredictable, thanks to his ability to either run at the defenders or make a yard of space for himself before unleashing a lethal strike at goal.
Trincao's left foot works like a charm and is capable of some good shots. The Portuguese is also a very calm finisher inside the box and in 1vs1 situations. His awareness to anticipate a loose ball in the box is commendable and when played up, he is a fine poacher.
Conclusion
About 16 years ago, Manchester United signed a tricky, versatile Portuguese forward from the Liga NOS and he turned out to be one of the best players of this generation, thanks to the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer looks to be following the same footsteps as Ferguson and can develop a Portuguese superstar of his own if the club sign Francisco Trincão. The teenager shouldn't think twice about the move.
