Why Arsenal should NOT sign Hazard

Arsenal have made 'first contact' with Real Madrid as they line up a potential move for Eden Hazard.

Hazard spent seven years at the Gunners' rivals, Chelsea, where he earned legendary status, before signing for Madrid in 2019.

However, the Belgian's time in Spain has not gone to plan, finding himself on the substitutes bench for the most part.

Despite the £100 million transfer fee, Hazard is out of favour at Santiago Bernabeu and is set to be sold in this summer's transfer window.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side are reportedly interested in bringing him back to the Premier League, where he previously won the Player of the Season award in 2014/15.

Although, this would not be a smart move the Gunners to make, as they look to climb their way up the league table.

Hazard to Arsenal?

Since Hazards's move to Real Madrid, which had been touted for several years prior, he has really struggled with injuries.

In fact, he has made just 28 La Liga starts in almost three seasons for Los Blancos, scoring four times.

Now, it is clear to see that he has been replaced by promising winger Vinicius Junior, with no way back into the team.

So, even though Hazard has made it known that he is determined to make a success of his Madrid career, it is time he left the club for another new challenge.

And, according to Foot Mercato, Arsenal have 'initiated the first contact' with Real Madrid for his transfer.

For him, Mikel Arteta's side would be an exciting move. As for the Gunners, however, they should stay away from the 31-year-old.

The Spaniard has built a hungry team, filled with talented youngsters such as Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka.

The signing of Hazard would only disrupt the chemistry the attacking quartet have built up this season, and that's if he was fit enough to play anyway.

Not to mention the Belgian's astronomical wage demands, which would shatter any sort of structure that the club is operating with.
