Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard showed his frustrations during Arsenal's clash against Manchester United in their summer pre-season friendly

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was less than impressed with Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez during the two side's pre-season friendly on Saturday evening.

The Gunners got their tour of America underway earlier this week, securing a 5-0 victory against the MLS All-Stars in Washington D.C. Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli Kai Havertz handed Mikel Arteta's men the win in what was a one-sided display.

Then the north Londoners travelled to New Jersey to take on the Red Devils, a game that United boss Erik ten Hag claimed wouldn't be like a friendly during his pre-match press conference. "We don’t play friendly games", warned the Dutchman on Friday.

Ten Hag's side certainly didn't treat the first half at the MetLife Stadium like a friendly, with a few heavy challenges on Bukayo Saka going in, including one from centre-back Martinez that could have been a red card in a competitive match.

Arsenal captain Odegaard took exception at the Argentine international's tackle, voicing his concerns as the two players exchanged a fiery conversation. United went into the break 2-0 up, with Bruno Fernandes breaking the deadlock from long range, a shot that Aaron Ramsdale will feel like he should have saved.

The second goal came from Jadon Sancho, who capitalised on a major error from Gabriel Magalhaes after the Brazilian centre-half miskicked a clearance on the halfway line.
