FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen has hit a brick wall in his attempts to establish himself as Germany's number one stopper.
Despite being a certain starter at the Camp Nou, finding himself on the shortlist for 'The Best' goalkeeper awards and putting in fantastic performances in both LaLiga and the Champions League, Joachim Low prefers to stick with Manuel Neuer for the national team. Even conceding four goals against Holland and a long-term injury has been enough to see ter Stegen claim what is rightfully his. Low has already confirmed Neuer will retain his place for the upcoming fixture.
Ter Stegen can't get his head around the situation but is willing to wait for an opportunity to prove himself again. Right now his focus is on Barça and working hard to add to his 22 caps for Germany.
It's hard to tell whether Low's plans will change before Euro 2020 but, for now, it appears he doesn't intend to alter much. "My decision remains the same: Manuel Neuer is my number one. But Marc-Andre ter Stegen will have his chance this year."
