Georginio Wijnaldum has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, but the Liverpool midfielder did not want to be drawn into discussing those rumours.
Ronald Koeman has asked Barcelona to sign the 29-year-old, who has one year left on his contract at Anfield.
"They are only rumours," Wijnaldum said during a press conference whilst on international duty with the Netherlands.
"At the moment I can't say anything."
The midfielder even joked with the media when asked if he could be a key player for Barcelona.
"I thought you were going to say that I can be a pillar of the Dutch national team," Wijnaldum said whilst smiling.
"If you ask me about the Oranje, I can answer."
If Barcelona are to sign Wijnaldum this summer, they must first allow more players to leave in order to alleviate the pressure on their wage bill.
Koeman, who worked with Wijnaldum during his time as Netherlands coach, views his compatriot as the ideal player to come in and cover the losses of Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal, with the latter on the verge of joining Inter.
It is expected that the Dutchman would cost around 15 million euros, however Barcelona are adamant that their primary target in this transfer window is Inter forward Lautaro Martinez.

Barcelona have decided to sell Dani morer and bring in wijnaldum. they need to bring young talent who have the Barca DNA mostly from la masia. If Barca 2008-2012 was the best side then 2018-2022 will be the worst Barca side in their history. it is sad that Dani morer, Arthur melo, carles Perez , take kubo and Abel ruiz have left the club and they have bought players like griezmann, dembele, semedo and wijnaldum who are not Barca type players. this will be the worst period for Barcelona and bartomeu without a doubt is probably the worst president in the club's history
