Jack Wilshere has returned to action for West Ham U23s against Leicester U23s at the London Stadium after overcoming a persistent ankle injury.
The former Arsenal star, who signed for West Ham in the summer, hasn't featured since facing Newcastle in December at St James' Park.
Wilshere, who played in West Ham's first four matches, underwent surgery in September to correct a problem in his left ankle.
It took time for the 27-year-old to overcome the issue but he returned and came off the bench for five minutes in the 3-0 at Newcastle on December 1. That, though, remained his last action.

Dont get how some can say he been missed, missed in what way? We haven’t seen enough of him judge he is been missed, and if he is to be judged on the performances he has had this season he is not missed at all, was bloody awful.

Great start from West Ham as they nearly catch Leicester on the counter but play is Stopped as Wilshere has been stretchered off as a bit of wind has pushed him over.

Not interested. Took a gamble on him and it didn’t work. Wish him luck but we need to move him on and save the wage bill (he can take Carrol with him).

Give him 10 mins before he’s injured again

We have missed him. We lack so much creativity from midfield and he’s our answer (if he can stay fit)

He fits into several setups in midfield set ups where we’ve got a clear problem. I won’t hold my breathe on him just yet but having him back improves us significantly.

Around 65 minutes or so apparently. Divides people’s opinions on his fitness levels understandably but when he’s fit it’s hard to argue we’re not desperate for him alongside Rice currently.
