According to Bild reporter Jörg Althoff, Florian Wirtz has informed Bayer Leverkusen that he doesn’t want to go to Manchester City or Real Madrid, and only wishes to join Bayern Munich.
Wirtz has told coach Xabi Alonso that he has no desire to transfer to Real Madrid or Manchester City—he only wants to move to Bayern Munich!
In Leverkusen’s 2–2 away draw against Freiburg, Wirtz scored once, becoming the second player this Bundesliga season to record double figures in both goals and assists with 10 goals and 10 assists.
According to earlier reports, Bayern Munich is working on a massive bid to try to finalize the deal in the coming weeks.

Florian Wirtz to Bayern over Madrid or City? From where I stand, choosing Real Madrid would be a huge risk for Wirtz. That midfield is stacked with world-class talent—Bellingham, Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouaméni, Modrić—you name it. Breaking into that lineup wouldn't be easy. Bayern Munich seems safer. Wirtz knows the Bundesliga, he stays in his home country, and the transition would be smoother. But let’s not pretend it’s a free run: Jamal Musiala owns the CAM role, Kimmich and Goretzka control midfield, and Harry Kane isn’t giving up that striker spot anytime soon. Surprisingly, Manchester City might’ve made the most sense. Kevin De Bruyne is expected to leave at the end of the season, and that creative hole could’ve been Wirtz’s to fill. Add Pep Guardiola to the mix, and it sounds like a dream move. So why Bayern? Maybe comfort. Maybe loyalty. Or maybe there’s more behind the scenes that we don’t know about. But one thing’s for sure—starting spots won’t come easy at any of these clubs.
