Aston Villa are discussing a revised deal for Wolves defender Kortney Hause.
Wolves want around £3.5million for the defender but he is understood to be carrying a foot injury.
Villa will assess the 23-year-old's fitness to confirm whether he is deemed capable of making a contribution to the season.
If he is passed fit, the Villans will explore a loan deal with view to making a deal permanent in the summer.
London-born Hause joined Wolves in 2014 from Wycombe, and has to date made 68 appearances for the Midlands club.
However, despite earning 10 England Under-21 caps, he appeared just five times for Wolves in their promotion-winning campaign last season.
West Brom had also registered an interest in the left-sided defender but are likely to miss out.
