Yannick Bolasie has joined Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough on loan from Everton until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old winger, who hasn't played for Everton this season, has finally arrived at the Riverside Stadium three months after a deadline day move there collapsed back in October.

DR Congo international Bolasie is reunited with manager Neil Warnock, whom he played under for four months at Crystal Palace in 2014.

'I've known Yannick for many years,' Warnock said. 'I asked him if he could help us out until the end of the season and get some fitness in at the same time.

'We can't expect wonders but he's a good lad and he can play different positions for me. He'll be good in the dressing room and it's a big boost for us.'

Warnock tried to sign Bolasie on loan in October following an injury to Ashley Fletcher but it fell through at the eleventh-hour on deadline day after complications.

Speaking at the time, Warnock said: 'I'm disappointed that we didn't get him but that's life.

'There were numerous things that happened in the afternoon and it just wasn't meant to be. I'm disappointed, but you have to move on and we'll see what happens now.

'He was disappointed, but he was partly to blame as well. There were things I should have known before four o'clock on Friday afternoon about his problems at Everton.

'They were problems that we couldn't overcome. Well, we tried to, and eventually we did, but it was too late.

'I've asked him why I didn't know about those problems beforehand. He said, 'Well, I told my agent', but I said, 'Well why didn't the bl**** agent tell us that?'

After realising his move to the north east wasn't going to happen, Bolasie had used Twitter to inform fans he would remain at Everton.

Bolasie wrote: 'Disappointed the deal couldn't get done in time...signed & sent off, waited till 19.00 with real hope.

'From my end I know I was willing to give up a lot...all I wanna do is say thank you to Neil Warnock (appreciate you so much) and wish Middlesbrough all the best this season.'

Boro have lost four of their last six Championship matches, beaten 3-0 at home by Rotherham on Wednesday, to drop out of the play-off places before Saturday's trip to table-topping Norwich.

Bolasie joined Everton from Palace for a reported £25million fee in 2016 but struggled to establish himself in the side and has since spent time on loan with Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon.
