In a goalmouth melee, a striker on the line ferociously blasts the ball at a defender's back, deliberately using him to deflect the ball into the net. Opponents are furious, some claiming offside, some claiming violent conduct. Goal or no goal?

What a beautiful goal it is and a very smart one by the striker.

I think it should be offside as one player is behind the goal line and the goalkeeper was ahead of the striker. And I don’t think that it is in the rules to use an opponent player to deflect the ball into the goal.

Goal obviously. I've not seen anywhere that States deliberately hitting the ball against an opponent with no aim of injuring him a form of violent conduct. No need of VAR here.
