Barcelona will reportedly not play Yusuf Demir again, as they plan on sorting out their finances to prepare for the potential signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City.
Demir was on loan from Rapid Vienna for the season but was on a deal where he would have to join permanently in an £8.5million move if he played 10 games.
He has already featured nine times this season, meaning he cannot play another minute if Barca do not wish to sign him.
Although impressing early on in the campaign, the forward hasn't convinced Nou Camp chiefs of his potential ability to become a world class player and he is now set to return to the Austrian club.
According to Marca, while Barca believe he is a good player they cannot afford to add him to the wage bill and that the 18-year-old was told 'it was best for him to find a new club as he was too good for Rapid Vienna.'
The report adds though that Demir is only one part of a January clear out, as the club hope to free up finances to complete a potential £55million transfer of Ferran Torres from Manchester City.
Players the club are trying to move on include Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, Sergino Dest and Luuk de Jong.
A third of Demir's appearances have resulted in just 15 minutes of football, with his latest coming in the 3-0 thrashing by Bayern Munich in the group stages earlier this month.
Prior to that, the highly-rated star played just nine-minutes in the 3-0 victory over Levante in September, before featuring for just two minutes in a 1-0 win against Espanyol last month.
Demir came on to the scene under former head coach Ronald Koeman who gave him the chance to shine during pre-season. Having impressed, the youngster was fast-tracked from Barca B to the first-team.
The Austrian has not being a regular under Xavi, however, but the forward did impress in the 0-0 draw against Benfica at the Nou Camp in Europe's elite competition, hitting the crossbar in the match.
Several Bundesliga sides are interested in his services, with Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt all running the rule over the youngster.
