Crystal Palace's wantaway star Wilfried Zaha has reportedly handed in a transfer request as he looks to force through a big-money move before Thursday's 5pm deadline.
Sky Sports made the claim on Wednesday after the Eagles turned down Everton's latest approach of £70million plus James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun for the winger.
The Ivory Coast star's future has been a topic for discussion all summer as Arsenal were keen to take him to the Emirates, but were put off by his price tag and signed Pepe from Lille instead.
The Toffees, however, remain very interested in Zaha but Palace are steadfast in the fee they want for him, so it remains to be seen whether Everton go back in with more money before 5pm on Thursday.
Zaha is believed to be frustrated that Selhurst Park supremo Steve Parish continues to reject approaches, and has now taken action by handing in a transfer request.
Everton have already seen offers of £52m and £55m snubbed by Palace, but the new offer is thought to be their limit.
The Merseyside club released a statement last week claiming that they had ended their interest - and confirmed that at the time they had not offered £55m along with Tosun and McCarthy.
“Everton Football Club categorically denies that a bid has been submitted to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha that included an increased sum plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy," it read.
“Everton and Crystal Palace have a very good relationship. A bid was made over the weekend which was turned down. Both clubs agreed that was the end of the matter.”
The Ivory Coast international is said to be expectant that he will be an Everton player by the end of Thursday, when the transfer window closes, with the promise of increasing his £130,000-a-week wages
The 26-year-old returned to training on Monday, with Palace's opening clash of the season, ironically, against Everton.
