In an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb, former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga spoke about the current squad who are on a three match winning run following a difficult start of the season.
The Nerazzurri legend stated that “the first few matches of the season are difficult for any team, but clearly the side has begun to show its true value. Soon the direct clashes with the big sides will come and it will be a great championship. Inter have the quality to change matches at any moment. If Spalletti finds the right continuity then he can have a successful season at the club.”
Spider-Man, as he is affectionately known among Interisti, was then asked about Roma: “When you lose important pillars of your side, and replace them with younger players, then there will always be an adjustment period. Roma chose to sell Strootman, Nainggolan and Alisson – these are all top quality players and the team has suffered for it. That said their manager Di Francesco would have been prepared for this and will know how to get the team through this difficult moment. Their upcoming match with Lazio will be a great derby – a fantastic contest between two direct competitors.”
Finally, Zenga, who was sacked by Crotone last season, was asked about his own future. “I would like to return to coaching in Italy. Crotone was a fantastic experience and, like my time with Catania, it left an impression on me. I worked with an extraordinary club. The calendar penalised us. I’m not looking for excuses, but the schedule at the end of last season favoured those teams who no longer had anything to play for.
