Zion Suzuki makes history as first Japanese goalkeeper to play in Champions League

In the first match of the Champions League group stage, Aston Villa played away against Club Brugge, and Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki became the first Japanese goalkeeper to play in the Champions League.

Zion Suzuki, 24, joined Villa this summer from Parma for €30 million.

Prior to this, in a Premier League Round 2 match against Arsenal, Zion Suzuki became the first Japanese goalkeeper to play in the Premier League.

With this Champions League away match against Club Brugge, Zion Suzuki achieved another historic milestone, becoming the first Japanese goalkeeper to play in the Champions League.
