AC Milan are expected to push for a deal to bring in Marcus Rashford this month with Zlatan Ibrahimovic particularly keen on a potential move.
Rashford is being offered to a host of clubs across Europe after last month saying he wanted to leave Manchester United.
And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Ibrahimovic, who is now working as an executive at Milan, believes his former team-mate at Old Trafford would be a big success at San Siro.
United will be reluctant to see Rashford join another Premier League club for fear of strengthening a domestic rival, meaning a switch to Serie A would be preferable.
But wages are still likely to be a stumbling block with Rashford's current £300,000 per week deal 50 per cent more than that of the Italian top flight's best-paid player - Juventus ' Dusan Vlahovic.
Rashford could also see links to Paris Saint-Germain reignited following their previous interest in him, while a move to Spain could also be possible.
However Milan represents a fascinating opportunity. They sit eighth in the Serie A table with games in hand and despite the title appearing to be out of reach - they are 17 points behind Napoli - a Champions League place is possible.
Sergio Conceicao has just been appointed manager and in his first game Milan defeated Juventus 2-1 to set up a Supercoppa final against Inter that will be played on Monday night.
His squad already features a host of former Premier League stars including England internationals Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, plus fellow ex-Chelsea stars Alvaro Morata and Christian Pulisic.
Rashford was again left out of United's squad for Sunday afternoon's battling draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield and head coach Ruben Amorim hailed his team's performance while challenging them to produce it consistently.
Amorim said: “That should be a big issue for our players that even one person thinks you have the ability but not the character, we have to fight that and change that.
"I think it is really clear. When we are focused, when we fight for every ball, when we suffer and we are tired when the game is finished, we are a good team.
"If we don't do that all the time then we are going to lose games. That is clear to everybody.”

Where are these English pundits, that said Rashford deserve an open cheque to renew his contract in United two seasons ago. Now his wage is a stumbling block to move him.

Rashford only said " I am ready for a new challenge".How is this interpreted as he said " he wanted to leave MU". Believe it or not Rashford will see out his contract and will not leave his childhood club.
People that understand football terms, professionals, understood what he meant. He got what he deserve. And you can go with him as well.
