Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly pessimistic over their chances of signing Kylian Mbappe to a new contract.
Mbappe is in the final year of his deal at the Parc des Princes and could leave the club for nothing at the end of the season.
Real Madrid made two mega-money offers for Mbappe over the summer transfer window, though PSG did not respond to their bids of £137m and £154m.
AS Sport have reported that Mbappe is 'getting closer' to the Santiago Bernabeu, with his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
In October, Mbappe confirmed that he had asked to leave PSG in the summer, but the club refused to do so.
Despite his wishes to join Madrid, PSG were said to have been optimistic in August over their chances of keeping the Frenchman, as they looked to make him the highest-paid member of a squad which also consists Lionel Messi and Neymar.
However, there is now just over a month to go to try and convince Mbappe to stay, before he can speak to foreign clubs over a pre-contract agreement at the start of January.
The club don't have long left and Mbappe has rejected all offers which have been put on his table since his arrival from Monaco in 2017.
Losing one of the best young players in world football would obviously come as a huge blow for the French giants.
While Lionel Messi has struggled to hit the ground running in Paris and Neymar has under-performed this season, Mbappe has been in excellent form so far this campaign.
Mbappe has scored nine goals in 18 appearances across all competitions, also providing 12 assists.
Speaking to French outlet RMC Sport in October, he said: 'I asked to leave, because from the moment I did not want to extend, I wanted the club to have a transfer fee to have a quality replacement.
'It is a club which brought me a lot, I have always been happy, the four years that I spent here, and I still am.
'I announced it early enough that the club can turn around. I wanted everyone to come out grown up, to leave hand in hand, to make a good deal, and I respected that. I said, ''if you don't want me to leave, I will stay''.'
The France star also furiously hit back at suggestions that he only tried to force a move to LaLiga in the final week of the transfer window.
PSG sporting director Leonardo accused the 13-time European champions of 'illegal and disrespectful behaviour' after their first bid, and added the proposal 'seems like a strategy from Real to get us to say ''no'' and then to say that they did everything to get him before getting him on a free.'

The boy is deadly. PSG is losing a good player for free 😕 You people say PSG doesn't care about money but that's not true ,if there's anything you must understand about Rich people in business is that even £1 matters to them it's all about profit. Don't be surprised if Leonardo is sacked if PSG lose Mbappe to Real Madrid

...what I learnt from PSG is that no matter how much a small club has, it will always behave like a small club. Cos the mentality is still small.
