Newcastle are 'considering Feyenoord defender David Hancko' as a cover option at left-sided centre back.

The 25-year-old played a important role in the Dutch side's Eredivisie title win last season, making 28 league appearances in the campaign.

He has also become a regular for Slovakia, picking up 27 caps since his debut in 2018.

Hancko's career began in his homeland with Zilina, and only joined Feyenoord last summer after spells with Sparta Prague and Fiorentina.

He could now be on the move again, with Santi Aouna reporting that Newcastle have 'shortlisted' the defender.

They claim Hancko is seen as a solid squad option at the back, with Eddie Howe keen to add depth as his side prepares for the added strain of Champions League football.

Crystal Palace's Joachim Anderson is also being watched, a potential moved helped by the Eagles' interest in Torino's Perr Schuurs.

The Magpies have been looking to strengthen their midfield as well, with sporting director Dan Ashworth currently in Italy trying to complete a £55 million move for AC Milan's Sandro Tonali.

He has been nicknamed the 'new Pirlo' as both midfielders started at Brescia before joining Milan, but is a more industrious player than the Italy legend and could be key in feeding the likes of Bruno Guimaraes if he does sign.

Tonali himself does not appear keen on leaving the San Siro, although the decision may be taken out of his hands.

Fulham's Antonee Robinson is another Newcastle target, with the fullback expected to cost around £35 million after an excellent 2023/23 campaign.

Newcastle are joined in their pursuit by Marseilles and Man City and the USA international is unlikely to stay at Craven Cottage with 12 months left on his contract.
