Ronaldo Nazario's Real Valladolid become final team to be RELEGATED from LaLiga

Real Valladolid joined Espanyol and Elche in being the third team to be relegated from LaLiga on a dramatic final day of the season.

Heading into the last game of the campaign, remarkably six clubs could still drop through the dreaded trap door with the fates of Elche and Espanyol already confirmed.

Valladolid, Almeria, Valencia, Getafe, Cadiz and Celta Vigo were all at risk and faced crunch games with a particularly mouthwatering clash seeing Valladolid - who are owned by Brazilian legend Ronaldo where he is also president - entertain Getafe.

Having only been promoted from LaLiga 2 last season, due to a vastly inferior goal difference they need to win to have any chance of surviving.

And despite dominating the game with 79 per cent possession and 15 shots to Getafe's four, Valladolid couldn't find a breakthrough as the game finished 0-0 and they were relegated.

The lack of firepower of their squad - which includes former Chelsea winger Kenedy - has been a common problem this season as they have scored just 33 goals, the third fewest in Spain's top flight.

This meant the other clubs in danger, including Valencia, were given a lifeline and remain in LaLiga.

Los Che's season has been marred by dismal performances and fan protests against unpopular owner Peter Lim, but they stayed up thanks to a 1-1 draw with Real Betis.

Almeria - who started the day just one point clear of the drop in 16th place - drew 3-3 with already-relegated Espanyol, while Cadiz played out a 1-1 draw against bottom side Elche.

Meanwhile, Celta Vigo were the only team at the bottom to win, with a superb 2-1 victory over champions Barcelona which was inspired by starlet Gabri Veiga parachuting them from 17th up to 13th in the table.

Elsewhere in LaLiga, the top six and title race had already been decided, but Osasuna edged out Athletic Bilbao, Girona, Rayo Vallecano, Mallorca and Sevilla to seventh place - meaning they will play in the Europa Conference League next season.
